The SOLAS Open Science Conference will be held at Barcelona’s science museum, Cosmo Caixa (website). The conference hopes to welcome over 300 international students and scientists to share their research and knowledge of SOLAS science. Plenary talks
The presentations will be organised into eight themes which cover the whole spectrum of SOLAS science:
The themes will be covered by a combination of seven key note presentations (40 minutes) and 22 shorter talks (15 minutes).

Planning and synthesis sessions
The conference will also provide the opportunity for the attendees to meet to discuss future strategy and the direction of research, within many provocative and exciting research fields, during the 15-20 scheduled planning and synthesis sessions. These will be open to all of the participants to share their wide range of expertise and experience through allowing open discussion and progression towards constructive proposals for new research initiatives in SOLAS.
The conference will includes poster sessions, which will be held over the first three days of the conference, permitting researchers to communicate their findings with others working within SOLAS science. All of the posters will be displayed for the whole duration of the conference.
Public Outreach
Public outreach will be an important part of the meeting and will be organised in collaboration with the Cosmo Caixa Science Museum. Plans have been made to introduce SOLAS science to the public during an evening public lecture and panel discussion and, additionally, discussions are underway to set-up a teacher training course introducing the basics of SOLAS science to be transferred to secondary-school pupils.
