SOLAS Mid-Term Strategy

The SOLAS Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) have identified a set of research topics and issues relevant to SOLAS that are both topical and require international coordination to make progress. Some of these topics are now described in a set of whitepapers which have the goal to stimulate research and cooperation at the international level.

SOLAS Newsletter issues 11 and 13 are dedicated to the Mid-Term Strategy and contain articles and updates from each of the themes.

Ocean fertilization: a scientific summary for policy makers

A Scientific Summary for Policymakers on Ocean Fertilization, commissioned by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and prepared with the assistance of the Surface Ocean Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS), is now available through online and in print. The Summary considers the practicalities, opportunities and threats associated with large-scale ocean fertilization.
