COST Action 735
European CoOperation in Science and Technology (COST) is an international framework that allows the coordination of nationally funded research on a European level.
The SOLAS IPO have managed the COST Action 735 'Tools for assessing global air-sea fluxes of climate and air pollution relevant gases' since 2006. This Action runs until 2011. The objectives of COST Action 735 have been divided into three working groups
- Short-lived trace gas production and biological feedbacks
- Physical processes controlling air-sea exchange
- Air-sea flux of long-lived climate active gases.

The grant awarded by COST to the Action is providing funding to foster interactions between scientists within Europe essentially (Meetings and Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs).
Meetings
In 2010, there was a call for proposals for Sub Working Group meetings. The proposals were assessed by the COST Action-735 Management Committee and funding was awarded to cover the costs of hosting the meetings and transport, accommodation and subsistence for meeting participants.

There are also grants of up to 3,500 Euros available for early stage researchers (less than PhD+8 years) to undertake projects of up to 6 months.
