Assessment of leaching protocols to determine the solubility of trace metals in aerosols
A paper comparing commonly used leaching protocols currently used to determine trace metals in aerosols highlights large variabilities in solubilities exist across the different methods.
A standard aerosol leaching protocol is required to allow accurate data comparisons within international databases such as the SOLAS Implementation Product, for provision to biogeochemical models, and to enhance our understanding of the atmospheric deposition of key trace metals to the oceans.
